Will General (R) Pervez Musharaf Go Abroad?

General (R) Pervez Musharaf and General Raheel Sharif are related to each other. General Raheel Sharif’s elder brother Major Shabir Sharif Shaheed was a very close friend of General Musharaf and both were batch mates as well. They used to meet on daily basis and mother of Major Shabir Sharif used to call General Musharaf as her son. After Major Shabir Sharif died on 3^rd of December 1971, General Pervez Musharaf helped General Raheel Sharif throughout his career and during Musharaf reign, he treated General Raheel Sharif as his brother. General Raheel Sharif used to have breakfast with General Pervez Musharaf.

Once General Raheel Sharif went to meet General Musharaf in order to release his forefather’s land from illegal land mafia and General Pervez Musharaf asked Raheel Sharif to sit beside him and did not let him go until the land was freed from the illegal land mafia.

General Raheel Sharif is reported to have visited General Pervez Musharaf at least three times in hospital along with his wife. The rumors are that Nawaz Sharif did not know the close relationships between General Raheel Sharif and General Pervez Musharaf but some other sources say that he did know about it.

Whatever the case may be, but now according to different media sources, General Raheel Sharif has met informally with Nawaz Sharif and insisted that Musharaf be allowed to go abroad so that he could get medical treatment and also to look after his ailing mother.

Higher officials of Pakistan Army are also not in favor of Musharaf being penalized and they want the political government to move on and leave Musharaf alone.

The situation is pointing towards a possible exit of Pervez Musharaf. In this case he might live his remaining life in exile out of Pakistan.
