Wasim Akram is a world famous cricketer hailing from Pakistan. He is the former captain of Pakistan Cricket Team and currently representing the 2014 Indian Premier League (IPL) winners Kolkata Knight Riders as their bowling coach. He was born on 3rd of June 1966.

Left arm fast bowler Wasim Akram played a significant role in Pakistan’s 1992 Cricket World Cup victory. Wasim Akram thanked his followers on Twitter for wishing him birthday.

Wasim Akram was the first bowler in the history of One Day International Cricket to achieve the 500 wickets milestone. He has been working with Kolkata Knight Riders as bowling coach since 2010. Under his coaching Kolkata Knight Riders won two editions of IPL in 2012 and 2014.

He was not only a dangerous bowler but his batting during the last few years of his career earned him the reputation of a genuine all-round cricketer.

One of the best Australian batsmen Ricky Ponting regarded him as the toughest bowler he has ever faced. Wasim Akram wrapped 502 wickets in ODIs in 356 appearances averaging 23.52 and has also scored 3,717 runs with the bat at an average of 16.52.
