Valentine’s Day in Pakistan

It is believed that back in 3rd century there was a priest named saint valentine who used to marry young soldiers to their loved ones and it was against the law made by King of that time who used to think that single men are better soldiers than those who have wives and families. Valentine was against this order and secretly continued to marry the young ones when it came in notice of the king he gave order to put him to death and before execution in last letter to his spouse he wrote “your Valentine”. In modern era the day is now celebrated as Valentine day.

Valentine Day in Pakistan is complicated some people are against its celebration and some love celebrating it and there is a category who believe that its a personal matter of everyone. Now a days Valentine day is becoming more popular among youth of Pakistan,They give flowers ,gifts & chocolate to their loved ones .Trend of celebrating valentine day is more increasing in universities and college students they wear red dresses specially for the event arrange parties, exchange gifts in shape of flowers and cards.

The people against Valentine’s day made this day Anti-Valentine’s Day and some have named it “Haya Day” . They are of the opinion that Government should ban Valentine’s Cards, Posters and any type of publicity of this day and are specially against Media who start celebrating it a week before the day in morning show and broadcast special Tele-films on this day.
