It is a shocking fact that anyone can find a dissertation on topic of choice from photocopying stalls around Peshawar University for as low as 1000 Rupees. This means that by spending such small amount of money, one can obtain a dissertation that will get him his Masters or Bachelors’ degree.

Not only local students but those students who are studying abroad are some of the major customers of these second hand dissertations and thesis.

Source of the Dissertations

As a matter of fact the real source for these dissertations is not students themselves. The actual source of these dissertations are the word composers and photocopiers. Students come to them in order to seek help for composing, binding and photocopying of their dissertations and the hard copy or soft copy which the photocopier or word composer gets is used for trading.

In European countries, many students work and study at the same time that makes it virtually impossible to work on their dissertation which is the most important part in achieving the degree. If they were to pay anyone in Europe, it will easily cost them 3000 to 4000 Euros to get a dissertation that will earn them a degree.

Before this business was established by the photocopiers and word composers, foreign students used to contact Pakistani lecturers and request them to write a thesis for them and it would easily cost them around 70,000 to 80,000 Rupees.

This action has serious implications on the quality of education in Pakistan and also to those students who belong to Pakistan and will return while they have foreign degrees with them. It seriously is quite a huge threat and raises questions on the quality of education of Pakistani youth.
