Umera Ahmed is a contemporary writer of Pakistan. Lahasil and Pir-e-Kamil are the best selling books by Umera. She has received various awards for her brilliant works like “The Best Writer Award” from Lux Style for play “Meri Zaat Zara e Be-Nishan” and “1st HUM TV Award for drama serial, “Maat.” Umera was born and bred in Sailkot on 10th December, 1976. She did masters in English Literature from a well reputed college of Sialkot city. Umera got a job as an English lecturer at Army Public School and College, Sialkot for A and O levels. She left to become a full time devotee of writing. After her hard work and affection towards her devotion, she got reputed world-wide and became a well-known Urdu Fiction Novelist and Urdu Play writer.
Ms. Umera started initially in 1998, as a digest writer. She wrote sixteen books, which are a mixture of novels and short stories. Most popular among them is Pir-e-Kamil. It was released in 2004. It is also translated in English for the first time in the fiction world, moreover it is also included as a compulsory book to complete thesis exam. There are various novels of her that have been adopted on the television for example “Zindagi Gulzar Hai,” which was recently played on television in the form of a drama. She also attended a meeting held by GEO TV for finding the new ways of creation on television screen.
She has earned a big name in a short time on television. Many novels by Umera are adopted and aired on several channels of television drama list includes Amr Bail, Mann-o-Salva, Lahasil, Husna aur Husn-ara, Darbar-e-Dil, Meri Zaat Zra-e-Be-Nishan, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Daam, Sauda, Mainne Khawabon Ka Shajar Dekha Hai, Thora sa Asman and many more. Others are her scripted plays like Uraan, Ghost and Quid-e- Tanhai etc.
She is very pragmatic and mature in writing. The issues she raises in her stories include socialism, spiritualism and domestic issues etc. they are an amalgam of love, hate, tragedy, friendship, suspense and romance. She is dynamic, resourceful and ambitious when it comes to writing and these are the three main characteristics that set her apart from others. She is admired by people of all ages especially girls and housewives.
