Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan has claimed yesterday that they have successfully test fired their first missile. This missile is developed indigenously and it is given the name “Omar 1”.

Tehreek-i-Taliban has its presence in the major part of Pakistan and Pakistan Army has initiated operation Zarb-e-Azab to curb this militant group. Some news sources claim that they have the video in which the militant group is practically demonstrating the launch of this missile. Although the video is not found on internet yet, but the news is quite disturbing and can just be a rumor.

Some news sources also claim that the video has the whole procedure of assembling the missile before test firing it. Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan spokesperson Muhammad Khurassani is quoted as

It can easily be assembled and dissembled in accordance to the situation. With the grace of God, you’ll soon see our enemies on the run

If this is just a rumor then there is nothing to worry about. But if this isn’t just a rumor and TTP has really acquired the missile technology, then it can be extremely dangerous not only for the army of Pakistan who are fighting against the militant group but in addition, the civilians are also in great danger.

Life in Peshawar has already been damaged due to terrorism and power shortage. Now if this rumor is true, the civilians are in much more danger as it is very easy to target vast area with a missile. Surely our civilian areas are not protected at all against the missile attacks and our government does not have the resources to protect the whole area.

All the common people can do at this moment is to hope for this news to be just a rumor.
