Pakistan Election 2013 is due to happen on 11th May, 2013. This election has been quite a unique one as all the political parties have tried to make full use of all the media sources available to them. One of the medium used to boost the election campaigns is SMS. According to sources, 1 Billion SMS are exchanged on daily basis in Pakistan these days as the election is drawing nearer and nearer. Mobile companies have observed a quick rise in the usage of SMS volume. Not only the political parties are using SMS but their supporters exchange a lot of SMS which has caused this boost in the SMS exchange volume.

Due to this rise in volume, the revenues of different mobile companies have increased significantly. PKR 1 Billion worth of SMS are being exchanged monthly. This implies that PKR 300,000 SMS per day are used. But the reason why the revenue has increased for cellular companies by 10% to 20% is that users usually activate SMS packages.

This rise of revenue is not only good for mobile companies but the medium used for campaigning is also very effective. Mobile users in Pakistan are 120 million in the whole country. This way election campaigns are getting more intense and more people are being touched by using SMS.

Mobile phone companies are also using Election 2013 as an opportunity and are generating different offers for their users. Their users can get all the information they need on Election 2013 by sending their mobile operators a SMS and they can receive their required information from the cellular company.

Reminding you that Pakistan is one of the countries where per user SMS ratio is quite high as compared to some of the other countries. In Pakistan a general user generates 176 SMS per month. In China this number is 99 SMS per month, for India this figure is 53 per month, in USA this figure is 617 and in Brazil this figure is 22 SMS per month.
