Shamim Hilali is a well-known television actress, who has spent a considerable amount of time in the Pakistan television Industry. She performed in a lot of hit dramas; her best performed drama was “Maigh Malhaar”. She is best known for her natural acting. There are certain dramas in which she acted recently, such as “Dil e Muzter”, “Saiqa” both from Hum TV, “Ek Nazar Meri Taraf” from Geo TV, “Morr Us Gali Ka” from ARY Digital “Talkhiyan’’, “Maat” and many more. She also appeared in director Javaid Jabbar’s first English Language Pakistani film “Beyond the Last Mountain”.

Shamim Hilali was a native Indian (Mumbai) who moved to Lahore after Indo-Pak separation. She was only a baby when her family migrated.She completed her education from Lahore; she did masters in English Literature. She started her career as a teacher but her love and interest in performing arts persuaded her to switch over her profession.Shamim loved to take part in the art & cultural activities at school and college level. She was in love with acting and performing arts. Her “First Formal Performance” was with a theatre group.

In 1964, a live TV Show “University Magazine” invited her to join them. The aim of that show was to invite students and talk to them.A PTV director got impressed by her and offered her to join television, which she rejected at first. But acting was her destiny and her first ever drama were ‘’Alif Noon’’ in which her performance as a young student was worth applauding.

She is one of those who are the groundbreaking actors of the Pakistani television drama. Her natural performance in the dramas is awesome. She is one of those who know how to mold themselves into a certain character. Her face, her body language, her emotions even each and every thing gets molded when she performs a certain part.

She performed in the only Pakistani English Language movie “Beyond the Last Mountain” 1976. It was directed, produced and written by “Javaid Jabbar”. Other actors starred in that movie with her are, Usman Perzada, Zahoor Ahmad, Mariana Haq, Pia Khan, Raja Jamil and Subhani Bayounous etc. It was her memorable project, for which she worked really hard.The simple and mature acting makes “Shamim Hilali” a true asset to Pakistan television industry.
