According to the co-CEO of Samsung, JK Shin, upcoming Samsung Galaxy phones will have 64-bit processing as currently employed in iPhone 5S.

“Not in the shortest time. But yes, our next smartphones will have 64-bit processing functionality”, Shin stated according to the Korea Times.

If you are thinking what is the purpose of 64-bit chip, then you must know that having 64-bit chip allows you to use more than 4GB of memory. Currently Samsung’s phones are stuck with 3GB of RAM as you can observe mighty Galaxy Note 3 which has only 3GB of RAM.

64-bit chips are of no use at this point but in the near future when more than 4 GB RAM will be a norm, it is a good time for software developers to figure out how to develop Apps for those phones having 64-bit chips.

Galaxy Note 3 was unveiled at IFA Berlin and it is the most powerful phone presented by Samsung till yet but it is only 32-bit. It has 2.3 GHz quad-core processor and 3,200 mAh battery while the screen is 5.7 inches having 1080 screen. It is 4G and boasts a 13-megapixel camera as well.

It will be available in UK from 25th of September and the deals show that it is quite expensive. At this moment Samsung wish to catch up with Apple by introducing the 64-bit chip in their upcoming smartphones but for the time being it is not necessary as people most probably are not into 32-bit 64-bit things and Galaxy Note 3 will do a wonderful business for Samsung.

So one thing we can say for sure, Samsung Galaxy S5 will have 64-bit chip.
