PBM Pays Rs. 40 Million to Bring Released Prisoners from Malaysia

Pakistan and Malaysia have maintained good cordial relationships in the past and the government is trying to continue those relationships. As part of those cordial relationships, Malaysia has released 315 prisoners of Pakistan who were serving jail in Malaysia over small petty crimes. The prisoners were released after they had served their jail term which was completing this month only. Special Assistant to the PM Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari said that Imran Khan had ordered the release of the prisoners before Eid. The released prisoners will be brought to Islamabad first from where they can move forward to their respective locations.

Zulfiqar Bukhari said that the government will provide a warm reception to the prisoners who were coming from Malaysia. He said that the government had provided financial assistance to the prisoners who were stranded in Malaysia after completing their term. These prisoners were not in a condition to afford their return to Pakistan and the government decided to help them out with this issue. According to Bukhari, these people will now be able to celebrate Eid with their respective families after Imran Khan took the timely decision on the return of these prisoners. A special flight of PIA will be bringing in the prisoners to Pakistan from Malaysia.

The families of the prisoners have already been informed by the release and arrival by the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation while the Malaysian Immigration Department has also confirmed the release and departure of the prisoners from Malaysia to Pakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed the release of Rs. 40 million from Bait-ul-Maal so that the prisoners could be released and brought back home. An additional payment of Rs. 10 million was made by the Foreign Office in order to bring the captured prisoners back home. The amount will help the government to bring back the people from Malaysia.
