Mahesh Bhatt’s Arth(film) Remade by Shaan

Arth (film) was directed by Mahesh Bhatt in 1982, a memorable movie which had won many awards. The star cast was Shabana Azmi, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Smita Patil,Raj Kiran and Rohini Hattangadi. The movie was based on extramarital relationship of Mahesh Bhatt with actress Parveen Babi. Pakistani actor-director Shaan is going to do the remake of the movie Arth in Urdu. It’s going to be the first indo-pak movie to be based in Pakistan. According to the Times of India,
Bhatt told us:
“I got a call from Shaan seeking permission to adapt the film. I informed the film’s producer Kuljit Pal. Since it’s not a commercial transaction but an emotional one, there’s no money involved.”
Shagufta Rafique is going to script the film and will also be involved in the star casting. She said:
“As the film is going to be based in Pakistan, we will cast Pakistani girls. Apart from writing, I will also be involved in the casting of the film.”
The movie is going to be shot in Pakistan with Pakistani actresses only but Indian actors will also be caste in the film. All the technical crew will be from India.
It is reported that she is going to visit Pakistan in the coming week for the auditions. It is confirmed by Shagufta that Shaan is going to play the role played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda.
“Shaan will reprise the role played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda in the original,”
She confirmed.
According to the reports it is said that Shaan has set his eyes on Humaima Malick in Smita Patil’s role and tv actress Uzma Hassan in Shabana Azmi’s role.
Humaima Malick is a talented actress and model. She has made her first film debut in Shoiab Mansoor’s “BOL” for which she has won no of awards. Uzma Hassan is also a well known Pakistani actress and model. Keep your fingers cross for the final announcement of the star cast. Hope the remake of ARTH is going to be the blockbuster and the cinema screens all over and in Pakistan will be dazzled by it.
