Katy Perry’s latest music video “Dark Horse” has been termed as blasphemous and it initiated an online petition, demanding Google to remove the video from YouTube.

At 01 minute 15 seconds of the video, a scene of burning a man is filmed. This man is wearing a pendant that is also burned with him. It has word “ALLAH” carved on the pendant and it is the word Muslims use for God.

Katy Perry Dark Horse Pendant Blasphemous

Shahzad Iqbal living in Bradford, West Yorkshire has started this petition on Change.org. Shahzad Iqbal explained the reasons for launching this petition as the video is clearly blasphemous as Katy Perry is appearing to represent the opposition of God and engulfs the believer in flames along with the pendant where the name of ALLAH is written. According to him, he lodged this petition so that people from different religion and various parts of world with different opinions and different thoughts could agree upon one single fact that using the name of God in irrelevant and inappropriate manner should be discouraged.

There are mixed views on this petition but it has successfully gathered 57,852 (till the point this article was written) supporters and support is growing in numbers.

Shahzad Iqbal defended his stance against negative views saying that he is a regular 22 years old who do watch music videos and listen to music but that doesn’t mean that if you watch a video with blasphemous content in it and do not report about it. It might be minor but it must be reported so that in future nothing like this happens.
