From the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s top religious leaders have just declared that a specific Islam-Inspired series of cartoons, “a work of Devil” and asked the Muslims to refrain from watching it. The series has received praise from the U.S President Barack Obama.

The Series of Cartoons is in fact a television version of the superhero Comic Book, namely “The 99″. It is being aired by the Saudi owned satellite Channel called the MBC3, which is based in Dubai , United Arab Emirates, Neighbor of the Saudi Arabia

Following the Decree carried by the religious Saudi Websites on Monday, the religious leaders labeled the series as “blasphemous” naming that the superheroes of the series are based on the 99 attributes of Allah from the Holy Quran.

In a recent statement , The religious leaders leaded by the Kingdom’s Mufti ” Abdul-Aziz Al Sheikh ” said that

“The 99” is a work of the devil that should be condemned and forbidden in respect to Allah’s names and attributes”.

The Comic Strip version, which came out first in 2006, immediately ran into opposition Muslims not only from Saudi Arabia but also from its neighboring state of Kuwait. In the state of Kuwait, the series was created and produced by a media executive known as “Naïf Al Matawa”.

The Comic Series , Which is produced in English alongside in Arabic has won Praise, Not only from the U.S President Barack Obama but also from Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, for the message of moderation and cultural dialogue depicted in the series.

The Series has achieved sales over a number of countries and have already been successful in spawning a range of merchandise as well as a theme park in Kuwait, besides the televised version Arabic version being aired in the Saudi Arabia.
