The citizens of Pakistan’s biggest economic city, Karachi, will now be enjoying getting their passport in their hands at their door step against cheap charges as the services are official launched on Monday.

In collaboration with country’s largest courier service, TCS, and the National Bank of Pakistan, the government will carry out the service of delivering passport to the citizens of Karachi.

The ceremony for the inauguration was held at the Regional Passport Office, Sadar, where Immigration and Passports director Mazhar Yasin Watto was present as the chief guest; besides, TCS marketing director Naiyar  Saifi was also present in the ceremony.

Under this project, the citizens of inside Karachi will be facilitated with the home delivery of their passports via TCS Passport Express Service for Rs250 as charges for delivery.

“The corruption element [in the department] will minimise with the start of the TCS Passport Express Service,” Said Watto while addressing on the occasion of inauguration. He explained that the courier will verify the recipient with the help of bio-metric device at the time of handing over the passport to the client to ensure that right person receives the stuff.

“TCS will ensure that the passport dispatched by the authorities reach the correct person or an authorized representative on the given address within the prescribed time in a safe and secure manner,” said TCS marketing director Naiyar Saifi, adding that a recipient can also notify the concerning courier service or the Islamabad passport office in case of any delay in the delivery of passport.

Watto also said that the interior minister is working to meet the standard set on the global scale, and in order to achieve this goal, an online application procedure for passport renewal will be triggered in future. Adding more about the launch of such services in the rest of the country, Watto said that executive passport offices will be erected in 16 different cities in the country by next year.
