The Story of Anwar Ali’s popularity to International Cricket, His blitz against the world’s number T20 team was nothing short of sensational clean striking but life wasn’t always kind to him.

Anwar Ali father passed away in his young age. Being the single earner of family, he was instructed to work in a factory at 200/day salary. Small Anwar believed cricket as his life. He wasted his free time enjoying tape-ball cricket in the roads of Orangi Town, Karachi and staying in contact with the passion for his life.

“I used to get Rs. 200 each day and that wasn’t sufficient for our family,” said Anwar in an interview. “At times, my mother couldn’t even extra Rs50 for me because of the limited budget she operated the home on.”

Anwar’s fortunate break arrived when he was selected into Zone VI’s under-19 side after impressing the selectors with the 6 deliveries he bowled at the tests. “They inquired about to come for regular practice but, because of the circumstance in the house, I had to do dual shifts sometimes. On hearing this, the coaches Azam Khan and Zafar Ahmed decided to hand me a agreement value Rs 4,600 monthly. From on that day, I never viewed back again.”

Anwar Ali was come to National Cricket Academy, Lahore for more trials. Unfortunately, he couldn’t afford a suitable set of cricket shoes and performed mostly with ‘joggers’ and ‘chappal’. Aaqib Javed after that provided him a pair of shoes which he used for the season.

Within Fifteen months, steady performances at zonal and regional levels received him a call to the national U19 squad and traveled to the World Cup in Sri Lanka. He shown his choice by taking 5/34 against New Zealand U19s however his best was yet in the future.

Right after the world cup, he joined PIA as a cricketer, exchanging his idol, Umar Gul.

On August 1, 2015, Anwar Ali arrived at no. 9 to smash 46 runs in just 17 balls to provide Pakistan a critical T20 series win over Sri Lanka. His were the best runs scored by any batsman batting at no. 9 in international T20s.
