Self-destructing Messages:

One of the most used social media platforms is WhatsApp. Every day a number of messages are shared in different formats among the users. These messages include text messages, visuals as well as videos. Many users are concerned about the privacy of the conversations. They don’t want the conversations to stay intact. Considering this many similar apps have introduced the feature of the self-destructing messages. One of these was Facebook Messenger. They had previously introduced the concept of self-destructing messages. Continuing the same tradition the WhatsApp has started testing the self-destructing feature for all the messages that are sent from your cell phone.

The key idea behind this is to help in preserving the privacy of the messages. The system allows the messages to reach the receiver but once it’s done the messages will be removed automatically leaving behind no signs.

Under this feature, the sender has the choice to set a time limit for the message. The rest of the procedure is the same as you do in case of the normal WhatsApp texting but it is through this time setting feature that the user decides that for how long he wants the message to stay on the screen. Thus, it would become impossible to keep track of the messages either by copying them or clicking them as a screenshot. Currently, the feature is available for the beta version of the social app that is available for Android users. Later, after the testing is completed the features will move to the basic version of the WhatsApp.

With the introduction of this feature it has become now possible for the WhatsApp to compete with other counterparts like the Gmail, Telegram, and Facebook Messenger.

The feature is still in the testing phase so the future is still not clear. What is the plan of the makers and how it will work in the future is another important question. Right now in the test version, the users can adjust the time to as less as five seconds or as long as one hour. Besides this, the feature is working for group chats only and not for the individual chats.
