It looks as if the situation in Pakistan has turned shambolic and there are no rights reserved for anyone let alone the minority. The case of medical student Nimrita Kumari has sparked another outrage in the country after she was found dead in her room with a rope tied around her neck. It was being said that this was a case of suicide which the friends and family member rejected as they believed that the university administration was being saved by saying this. And early postmortem reports have suggested that it was indeed a murder and not suicide as claimed by the officials from the university. Nimrita was a BDS final year student at the Bibi Aseefa Dental College in Larkana.

The death of Nimrita has sparked a series of protests not only on social media but also on the roads as people are now coming out to ask for justice for the poor girl. Protestors are saying that it is not the murder of someone from the minority but it is the murder of a daughter of Pakistan and the accused behind the murder should be brought to justice. #Justice for Nimrita has been the trending topic on Twitter and other social media platforms as people continue to provide their support to Nimrita’s family and are voicing their opinion in this regard. Celebrities like Armeena Khan, Shoaib Akhtar, and others have condemned the incident and have demanded immediate action in this regard.

The civil society has also come forward for providing justice to Nimrita where they protested for more than 4 hours in Clifton’s 3 Talwar area. The protests are likely to continue until there is justice provided to the family of the deceased girl. Jibran Nasir and other activists are taking part in the protests and are making sure that their voices are heard and that people should believe that it was not suicide rather a murder. Nimrita’s brother said that she was distributing sweets at 12.30 am and her dead body was recovered at 2 am. How can someone who is distributing sweets commit suicide within an hour only? He said that the case is different and it should be investigated properly.
