Indeed good news for B. Sc Engineers of Multan and vicinity areas as BZU has announced Master program in Engineering. Three types of Master in Engineering has been introduced which includes M. Sc Telecommunication, Power and Metallurgy. The decision was pending since last 4 years but the university management has at last took this step of introducing Master’s in Engineering. Well introducing is one thing but they have introduced a very expensive masters.

It would not be feasible for a student who belong to a middle class or low class family to do masters. Almost 55000/- will be per semester fee. Seriously ? are we talking about a recognized Government university. Fee per subject per semester have been finalised as Rs. 15000/-. So one can say that the course is only possible for those have some money in their pockets rest of the students should move on with only B. Sc as M. Sc would only be possible for them if they have a job with handsome amount of salary and everybody knows the status of jobs.

The authorities should take some serious steps for welfare of students instead of running business. The last date of submission of admission forms is 04/04/2014 and the admission forms/prospectus are available at university campus since 24/04/2014. The candidates should have completed their engineering with more than 60 percent marks and for M. Sc telecommunication, B. Sc electrical, electronics, power can apply while for Power engineering students who have done Engineering in Electrical and power can apply.

For M. Sc Metallurgy students who have done B.Sc Metallurgical, Metallurgy & Materials, Metallurgical & Material Science and Material Engineering can apply. Only 15 Nos. seats have been kept for each Master’s. Merit will be determined upon i. Marks in B. Sc Engineering(60 percent weight-age) ii. GAT(General)(25% weight-age) iii. Interview.(15% weight-age) Lets hope that university officials will reconsider the semester fee once again so that a student belonging to a middle or low class family can also upgrade his qualification.
