As was the case last year, many shopping sites in Pakistan are offering Black Friday deals for online shoppers this year too. These sites will organize massive sales on different items in multiple categories.

The term ‘Black Friday’ comes originally from United States of America. Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving Day and the Friday before Cyber Monday.

There are two popular theories as to why the day after Thanksgiving Day is called Black Friday. One theory is that the wheels of vehicles in heavy traffic on the day after Thanksgiving Day left many black markings on the road surface, leading to the term Black Friday.

The other theory is that the term Black Friday comes from an old way of recording business accounts. Losses were recorded in red ink and profits in black ink. Many businesses, particularly small businesses, started making profits prior to Christmas. Many hoped to start showing a profit, marked in black ink, on the day after Thanksgiving Day.

No matter why it is known as Black Friday, it is one of the biggest shopping days in the whole year. The whole day is marked with lucrative deals and sales on items ranging from newest gadgets to daily usage items. Popularity of this day has reached other countries too, with many emulating its success using different names and interpretations.

Black Friday in Pakistan

Some online shopping sites tried replicating the success of Black Friday in Pakistan last year. Although there have been varying claims about the extent of its success, many users reported that some online websites crashed due to an overwhelming number of users trying to get their hands on discounted items. However, such issues are to be expected when trying out something for the first time.

This year, from 18th to 24th November, Pakistani sites are again celebrating Black Friday with huge discounts on their products. Users will be able to avail these deals on following websites:

Daraz.pk was among the first sites to introduce this tradition to Pakistani users. They are back this year with huge discounts on all their items. Daraz is offering a discount of up to 70 percent on their products. They are also sweetening up their deals with extra discount by using their payment partners. 2. Yayvo.com

Yayvo, shopping website backed by TCS Pakistan, is another big player in the ecommerce segment of Pakistan. The website is offering up to 80% discount on select list of items.

3. Clicky.pk

Similar to Daraz.pk, Clicky.pk is also offering a discount of up to 80 percent on select items. Keep in mind that Clicky is currently only dealing with recognized and popular brands. It boasts an impressive catalog of 40,000 products currently available for purchase on the website. 4. Homeshopping.pk

Technically, Homeshopping.pk is not participating in ‘Black Friday’ sales this year, neither they did last year. Instead, they are conducting ‘White Friday’ sales from 24th to 27th November. Telemart is another website which, similar to Homeshopping.pk, is against the name Black Friday. So instead of Black Friday sale, it will conduct a Blessed Friday sale from 20th of November to 26th of November. Similar to other websites, Telemart will provide discounts on Laptops, mobiles, cameras, Kitchen items and a number of other assorted items. iShopping.pk is hopping on the Black Friday craze too this year.
