PITB

“Join us, work with us, invest in us!”

This is the message which Punjab Information Technology Board(PITB) wants to send out to the rest of the world with its new video.

There is no denying that Pakistan’s international image is quite questionable. Negative actions of a small group are overshadowing the remaining positive, peaceful and talented populous of Pakistan. Keeping that in mind, PITB aims to show the positive side of Pakistan with this new video focusing on achievements of entrepreneurs and innovators in the field of information technology.

This video features prominent IT leaders talking about their achievements, customers and what the future holds. The list comprises of big names from the IT industry like Asif Peer (CEO Systems Ltd.), Salim Ghauri (CEO NetSol Technologies), Sarah Gilani (Program Manager TechHub Connect), Nadeem A. Malik (Country Head Microsoft Pakistan) Wahaj Siraj (CEO Nayatel) and many others who are working in the IT industry of Pakistan.

Some encouraging stats from the video are:

  • Pakistan is the third largest provider of freelancers in the world.
  • Pakistani freelancers bring home a revenue of more than $850 million each year.
  • Till date Plan9, PITB’s tech incubator, has produced 130 different startups with a net valuation of over $70 million.
  • By 2020, Pakistan’s IT industry is expected to hit the $5 billion mark.

This video is certainly encouraging for those hopeful for a prosperous IT industry in Pakistan. Although not everything is perfect and women participation could have been increased. Nevertheless, it is a great step overall!
