WhatsApp

WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging service, is testing yet another nifty feature. This new feature will allow you to quote a message when you are replying to a conversation. It will be available in both individual and group conversations. This ‘quote’ feature is currently available in version 2.16.118 of WhatsApp but right now, it is available to only a handful of users.

In order to quote reply to a message, you long press on the message that you want to quote and then tap the new ‘back arrow’ button (the standard reply button) on the top of your screen. This will quote the message that you just selected and then you can respond to it. Moreover, if you tap the quoted message, WhatsApp will redirect you to that message in the conversation.

This feature is going to be particularly useful in group conversations with a lot of participants.

This feature is going to be particularly useful in group conversations with a lot of participants. Things can get muddled up very quickly in group chats and this particular feature will come quite in handy in sorting things out.

There is currently no information on when the update for this feature will roll out. Again, it is only available for a limited number of users right now, there has been no word about when, if ever, will it be made available for everyone. Another recent update from WhatsApp was to allow users to bold (by placing text between * and *), italicize (by placing text between _ and _), and strike-through (by placing text between ~ and ~) text in their messages.
