On the second day of its 2021 New Product Launch Event, Xiaomi also unveiled two new laptops, the Mi Laptop Pro 15-inch model and the Mi Laptop Pro 14-inch model.

Design and Display

Design-wise, the laptops have aesthetics similar to other Xiaomi laptops. The 15-inch model is built around an E4 OLED display that the company uses in its flagship smartphones. The panel is quite bright with 600 nits peak brightness and features DC dimming. It provides 3.5K resolution, 261 PPI pixel density, 16:10 aspect ratio, 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut for a color-accurate display, and Gorilla glass protection.

The 14-inch model, on the other hand, has slightly toned-down specifications. The display is a 120 Hz LCD (vs an OLED in the 15-inch model) with 2.5K resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, and color accuracy with a delta-E of just 1.5. However, it lacks HDR support.

Additionally, both of these come with a backlit keyboard, a fingerprint sensor for Windows Hello login, and an HD webcam. They will be available in Moonstone Grey and Crescent Silver colors.

Internals

The 15-inch Mi Laptop Pro is powered by 11th generation Intel Core processors. The Core i5 is the standard option but you can swap it for a Core i7 as well. As for the GPU, you get to choose between Intel’s internal Iris GPU or an Nvidia GeForce MX450 GPU (2 GB VRAM). There will also be an AMD-powered version of the 15” laptop with a Ryzen 5000H (45W) processor but it will be launched in May.

It will be available with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB NVME SSD storage for both 14″ and 15″ variants.

In addition to this, the laptops feature dual-fan cooling, stringent Intel Evo Platform certification for laptops. The 15-inch variant has a 66Wh battery with 100W fast charging.

The toned-down 14-inch laptop also gets a Core i5 or i7 11th gen processor plus the MX450 GPU or the internal GPU. However, it packs a 56 WHr battery that charges at 100W. Both laptops have Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.

A downside of both of these laptops is the lack of ports. The laptops only have a Thunderbolt 4 port and 3 USB-C ports, you can’t attach a mouse/keyboard or anything that uses a full-sized USB-port without an extension dongle which will be included in the packaging. They do have a 3.5mm headphone jack so there’s that.
