Windows had a unique feature called “Continuum” which allowed Windows phone users to “continue” their work on their Windows computer – all the work, emails, pictures, and presentations could be projected onto a TV screen while the phone pretty much became a CPU.

However, Windows phone has officially died and will not receive any major upgrades anymore.

A similar feature called “Continue on PC” is coming in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. It will allow Android and iOS devices to be linked with your PC; “Continue on PC” will let you continue whatever web-page you have opened on your smartphone.

Here’s a guide on how to set it up for your phone.

Setting Up “Continue on PC”

First off, you have to link your smartphone with the PC using these steps:

    1. Open the Settings window – You can find it easily if you right-click the Start Button.
    2. Click “Phone” and then click “Add a phone”.
    3. Find your country code in the drop-down menu and select it. Type in your phone number and click “Send”.
  1. A text message will be sent to your phone containing a link. Open the link and it will launch the Google Play Store for Android and the Appstore for iOS to the “Microsoft Apps” download page.
  2. Install it and open it when it finishes downloading. Once the Microsoft App is installed, the Continue on PC feature will be available on your phone.

How to Use Continue on PC

  1. Launch any web browser (the one used in the pictures is Google Chrome).
  2. Navigate to a web-page you need to view on your PC.
  3. Tap the “More” button on the top-right and then click “Share”.
  4. Select “Continue Now” or “Continue Later” – if you click “Continue Later” it will show a notification in your PC’s Action Center later.

If it’s the first time you’re running this then a “Sign-in” screen will appear, use the Microsoft Account attached to your PC and sign in using that. After a brief search for devices, the web-page will appear on your PC. The method is almost exactly the same for your iPhone. Just hit “Share” on a web-page and tap “Continue Now” or “Continue Later”.
