Vaccine Creator Reveals How Soon the World Can Go Back to Normal

Ugur Sahin, co-founder of the German vaccine-maker, BioNTech, and the mastermind behind the Coronavirus vaccine co-developed with the American pharmaceutical company, Pfizer, has claimed that the effects of the COVID-19 vaccine will start to appear over the summer and normal life will resume by next winter.
During an interview with BBC, Sahin said that the BioNTech and Pfizer vaccine could halve the transmission rate of the Coronavirus disease, resulting in a significant decline in the number of cases.

When asked about the exact timeframe in which the Coronavirus vaccine will be made available, Sahin said that if everything goes according to plan, the vaccine will be delivered at the end of 2020 and the start of 2021.
He added that both companies plan to deliver more than 300 million doses around the world by the end of April 2021.
On 9 September, BioNTech and Pfizer, in a joint statement, had announced the preliminary results of the Phase-III clinical trials of their COVID-19 vaccine, declaring that the drug offers up to 90% protection against the viral infection with no side effects.
Both companies had tested the vaccine on 43,500 volunteers during the last stage trials that were simultaneously held across 6 countries.

Last week, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) had also announced that Sputnik V, Russia’s vaccine for Coronavirus, offers 92% protection against the disease.
Recently, Moderna, a US-based medical company, has issued the preliminary findings of phase-III clinical trials of its Coronavirus vaccine, claiming that the vaccine offers 94.5% protection against the deadly viral infection that has killed over 1.3 million people worldwide.
