Universal Service Fund awarded the contract of Broadband for Sustainable Development Projects in Balochistan worth Rs 2.769 billion in total to Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (Ufone).

Ufone will use the subsidy for the provision of 3G services in Dera Bugti, Kharan and Washuk districts of Balochistan.

USF said that more than 500,000 individuals will get telephony and internet services in the vicinity where there was previously no means of internet was available to the people.

The Broadband for Sustainable Development project would provide Mobile Broadband Internet/3G services in the yet un-served areas of following areas:

  • Dera Bugti Lot
    • Tehsils of Dera Bugti
    • Sui
    • Pir Koh
    • Baiker
    • Loti
    • Malam
    • Sangsillah
  •  District of Kohlu
    • Kohlu
    • Mawand
    • Kahan tehsils
  •  Kharan-Washuk Lot
    • Kharan Tehsils
    • Washuk Tehsil
    • Besima Tehsil

Ms. Anusha Rehman, Minister for IT and Telecom and Mr. Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister, witnessed the contract signing ceremony between USF and Ufone.
