Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has ordered Vice Chancellors of Nine universities to appear before the court on 20th January.

This is a result of an ongoing case in Supreme Court against substandard law colleges operating in the country.

Universities Involved

VCs of following universities were ordered by Supreme Court to appear in the case.

  • Punjab University
  • Bahauddin Zakariya University
  • Peshawar University
  • Gomal University
  • Islamia University
  • Balochistan University
  • Karachi Univeristy
  • Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai University
  • University of Sindh

Furthermore, in the decision, SC demanded details of eligibility of the law colleges. Court directed that the relevant documents regarding the eligibility be presented. Apart from these documents Mian Saqib further ordered to present the documents of ongoing cases in Lahore High Court.

This isn’t the first time that Supreme Court has taken action against educational institutions. The Court recently banned private medical colleges from taking in any new admissions. Private medical colleges were barred due to continuous increase in fees and several other irregularities. Chief Justice ordered authorities to present bank account details of owners of private medical colleges as well.
