Samsung has seen a downward trend in its profits over the past year and a half which has led Samsung to rethink its brand. Samsung went and left all of the reasons that were argued to lead to a bad design and came with renewed successor to the Galaxy S5.

Amongst retailers and carriers combined, Samsung has reportedly gotten 20 million pre-orders for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge handsets. This has led analysts to revise their expectations for how Samsung’s new Galaxy S6 and S6 edge duo will perform as the year progresses. Now, the latest estimates are that 55 million handsets expected to be sold this year alone.

Samsung has already ramped up production on both S6 and S6 Edge due to high demand

As a proof of high demand, Samsung has already ramped up production on both handsets and is set to produce an additional 13 million handsets by the end of April. Both the handsets are set to launch on April 10 and Samsung is hard at work to avoid any shortages. According to the report, Samsung is forecasted to sell 22.2 million units of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in Q2 2015. Following Q2, the next quarters are expected to reach 16.2 million units sold and then a further 12.5 million handset sales in Q3 and Q4 respectively.

While these estimates may seem high, it won’t be easy for Samsung to achieve these numbers with competition increasing with every generation. The recently announced HTC One M9 will go on sale this week in Taiwan and launch in other markets simultaneously with the Galaxy S6.

Samsung’s biggest competitor will probably be the LG G4, which launches later this year

Perhaps the biggest competition to the S6 duo will come from Samsung’s home country where LG G4 will take it on as the world’s best. The G4 is estimated to launch in Q2 and is rumoured to bring some new features like a curved screen, a direct competitor to S6 Edge. Sony’s latest flagship Xperia Z4 and the next flagship-killer Oneplus Two will also be launching soon so Samsung Galaxy flagships have a lot coming their way over the rest of the year.
