Qatar Airways Restores Flight Operations in Pakistan to Pre-Coronavirus Level

Qatar Airways has restored its flight operations in Pakistan to pre-COVID-19 status after the federal government announced to lift all lockdown restrictions due to a steep decline in Coronavirus cases.

The airline had reduced its number of flights in Pakistan by 32% following the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country and the subsequent ban on international air travel enforced by the government.

According to details, the number of weekly flights to and from Islamabad and Lahore has been increased to 14 compared to 11 during the lockdown period.

Similarly, weekly flights to and from Karachi and Peshawar have been increased from 10 to 14 and 5 to 7 respectively.

Chief Executive of Qatar Airways Group Akbar al-Baker says:

We remain committed to serving our customers in Pakistan and have worked hard throughout the pandemic to ensure we can operate as many flights as possible, in line with the directions of the Pakistan government. From operating special charter services to a number of commercial flights, we are delighted to now offer a strong schedule of services.

Preventive Measures Against Coronavirus

Qatar Airways has made it mandatory for all passengers on outbound flights from Pakistan to have an RT-PCR COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the flight.

In case a passenger does not furnish a copy of a negative RT-PCR test result along with a laboratory authentication form at the time of flight, Qatar Airways will not allow them to board the flight.

Children aged 12 or less will be exempted from the latest medical requirement of Qatar Airways.

Qatar Airways has authorized 4 laboratories where one can undergo COVID-19 diagnostic tests at their own expense.

These designated laboratories are:

• Excel
• Agha Khan
• IDC
• Essa

Once onboard, Qatar Airways will provide personal protective equipment (PPE), a complimentary protective kit, and a disposable face shield to every passenger to ensure the safety of both cabin crew and passengers.
