Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) carried out a successful raid on an illegal VoIP setup in Sabzazar, Block H Lahore. The raid was conducted with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB).

According to details, the raiding team confiscated ten (10) operational illegal gateways and approximately 500 active SIMs along with other equipment including routers, modems, and laptops, etc.

Two persons were arrested and interrogation is underway. The successful raid against the grey operators was made possible because of monitoring, commitment and efforts by PTA in curbing the menace of grey traffic,  thus reducing the loss to national exchequer due to these illegal traffickers.

The use of illegal equipment and gateway exchanges has increased in Pakistan in the past few years. This is not the first time PTA has teamed up with intelligence and security agencies to curb grey traffic.

Previously a raid was carried out on an illegal VoIP setup at Arsalan Plaza Pakistan Town, Islamabad where the team confiscated ten operational illegal gateways and approximately 130 active SIMs along with other equipment including routers, modems, and laptops, etc.
