Pakistan Consulate in Dubai has confirmed that repatriation flight operations will continue till Saturday, June 27. Ahmed Amjah Ali, the Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai, confirmed this on Sunday.
In a video message, Ali said that the national flag carrier will operate special flights till June 27 to repatriate 25,000 Pakistanis from the Gulf countries.
The Pakistan consulate is all set to carry out the special repatriation flight operation with PIA till June 27 as the government of Pakistan has announced to open its airspace for international flights. We have already finalized the schedule of around 20 additional special repatriation flights till June 27 to bring back maximum stranded Pakistanis.
Since these flights are strictly outbound (from UAE to Pakistan), the national airline has no choice but to increase the airfare. Therefore, the new one-way ticket for Peshawar is Dh 1,470 and Dh 1,270 for Karachi, he said.
The consulate general also warned expatriates to be wary of any travel agent as several scammers are conning people of their money in the name of an air ticket.
We are assuring the stranded community members that till June 27, the consulate will call the passengers to get their booking from Dnata office in Deira to pay cash or card while there is no travel agent in Dubai or Northern Emirates allowed to issue PIA tickets for special flights. Do not fall for any scam or transfer money to anyone for tickets as we are receiving complaints regarding the matter.
So far, over 80,000 stranded Pakistanis have registered themselves to return home after most of them lost their jobs or were sent on forced leaves due to the pandemic. These people have been living hand to mouth as several were left with no money for house rent or food.
To help them out, the federal government had started a special flight operation last week to repatriate over 15,000 Pakistanis from UAE and 10,000 from Saudi Arabia.
