Pakistan’s First Locally Developed COVID-19 Testing Kit by NUST Gets DRAP Approved

In an encouraging development, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has approved Pakistan’s first indigenously developed COVID-19 testing kit.

Developed by the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), the COVID-19 testing kit was sent to DRAP for the final testing and examination in March.

Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, has also confirmed the approval of the testing kits.

Taking to Twitter, the Minister said:

According to reports, NUST has more than 1.5 million COVID-19 testing kits ready at its disposal to boost the overall testing capacity of Pakistan.

In the last 24 hours, Pakistan reported 6,397 new Coronavirus cases while 107 people died, both the highest single-day tolls. 28,344 tests were also carried out yesterday. Pakistan’s total Coronavirus infections now stand at 125,933 while the death toll stands at 2,463.
