Oppo Reno 5 5G Series Launched With 64MP Quad Cameras and 90Hz Displays
Posted by MAHNOOR NADEEM
After the launch of Oppo’s Reno4 series earlier this year, its Reno5 5G series has been long anticipated. Like most smartphone lineups from the company, the Vanilla and Pro handsets are nearly identical. The main difference between the two models is the chipset. As usual, the toned-down model is powered by a Snapdragon chipset, while the maxed-out Oppo Reno5 5G pro comes with a Dimensity mobile platform at the helm.
Design and Display
Aesthetically, both smartphones look identical. They come with a rectangular camera aisle housing a quad-sensor camera setup.
On the front, the Pro model is equipped with the larger 6.55-inch panel, while the vanilla phone gets a 6.43-inch panel. Both handsets flaunt OLED displays with 1080p resolution, 90 Hz refresh rate, and 180 Hz touch sampling rate.
Internals and Storage
As for the innards, the Oppo Reno5 5G comes with the Snapdragon 765G chipset at the helm topped with 8 GB or 12 GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB UFS 2.1 onboard storage.
On the other hand, the Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset. The Pro handset also offers similar memory options.
Cameras
Both smartphones in the series sport a similar camera configuration. They are equipped with a quad-sensor rear camera system lead by a 64 MP main module with an f/1.7 aperture and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide angle camera and two 2MP modules.
For selfies, the smartphones feature a 32 MP single sensor shooter.
Battery and Pricing
The Reno5 duo pack a 4300 mAh battery, each backed by SuperVOOC 2.0 charging (65W peak speed) and reverse charging.
The smartphones are up for pre-orders in China. The toned-down Reno5 5G costs $410 while the Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G retails at $520.
