Former Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has served a notice to his successor Ehsan Mani for ‘defaming him.’

Sethi, in his legal notice, stated that the numbers released by the chairman cricket board regarding his remuneration were “incorrect and grossly exaggerated.”

The cricket board, on Sunday, had issued details of expenses and benefits of PCB chairmen from 2014 to Sept 30, 2018, which made the startling revelation that Sethi spent over Rs 70 million during his four years as PCB chairman.

Sethi, in response, tweeted that the report was “Clearly motivated by new mafia at PCB” and announced to challenge the report in court.

Former PCB chairman did not take long and served Ehsan Mani a legal notice early on Monday.

In the notice, Sethi claims that the numbers shown in the PCB’s report were misleading and deliberately calculated to hurt his reputation and denied receiving an amount of Rs 14, 181,570 as PSL Allowance.

Sethi encountered PCB’s report with an allegation that the board has provided the incumbent chairman with a lavishly furnished apartment.

Mani had earlier stated that unlike his predecessor he would not receive any allowance as a PSL head. He maintained that “every single one of these allowances/payments was duly authorized and approved by the PCB’s Board of Governors.”

Sethi argued that similar allowances were paid to Chief Financial Officer Badar Manzur and Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmed, but the report did not mention anything about the two officers who are currently serving under Mani.

The journalist-turned administrator, through his counsel, implied that he was being singled out by the PCB chairman on behest of PM Imran Khan.

Sethi assumed powers as a member of the Board of Governors of the PCB in 2014. In 2017, he was elected as chairman of PCB.

On August 20, soon after Imran Khan took oath as the Prime Minister, Sethi resigned from his post.
