Punjab’s emergency service, Rescue 1122, will now have motorcycle ambulances. They were inaugurated today by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at a ceremony.

Shahbaz Sharif said that these ambulances are introduced while considering the distant and remote areas of Lahore where the usual ambulances can’t go easily.

The respondents will have first-aid kits and will have medical knowledge. If needed, they will call ambulances nearby so they can meet up, according to Shahbaz Sharif.

900 Units

The Chief Minister paid a visit to the control room of motorbike ambulances service center. The new ambulance service comprises 900 motorbikes while 900 medical technicians have been inducted for the motorbike ambulance service. It will be available in nine divisions of the province.

Three hundred motorbike ambulances will be provided in Lahore division while one hundred each in Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala and Faisalabad divisions and fifty each in Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha and Sahiwal divisions.

Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister said the Motorbike ambulances service will play a pivotal role to meet emergency situations in populated areas.

He said the ambulance service has been started to serve people of the province and with the passage of time, the service will be extended to every city of the province.

Shahbaz Sharif said the technicians who have been hired for motorbike ambulances services have been trained on modern lines in Turkey and the service is another feather in the cap of medical emergency services.

The idea for the service was derived from the UK, Turkey and Japan based models.
