Jazz has announced the establishment of a new vertical named “Digital Financial Services” and has appointed Mr. Nadeem Sheikh as its head, sources have confirmed ProPakistani.

According to details shared with ProPakistani, Nadeem Sheikh will also be heading JazzCash and replace Aamer Ejaz, who had been heading the mobile financial arm of Jazz for around a year now.

Jazz has said that Aamer Ejaz, the person behind JazzCash’s recent growth, will continue to work for DFS at Jazz and will report to Nadeem Sheikh.

Aamir Ejaz will also hold the portfolio of CDO, where he will be heading digital initiatives and will directly report to Aamir Ibrahim in this regard.

While there were no further details shared on DFS, it appears that Jazz has aggressive plans for its digital payments platform (the ones done on the internet) to mature its revenue stream from digital financial services.

It merits mentioning here that Nadeem Sheikh will also head DFS activities at VEON group.

Nadeem Sheikh, a London Business School alumni, is said to have proven track record of delivery in many areas including technology, financial services and private equity sectors.

During his last appointment, Nadeem headed Anthemis Group, a VC firm specializing in fintechs. While he resigned from his decade-old job abruptly, there were questions raised on the sudden move.

ProPakistani inquired Jazz about it to see if there were any flags raised on this matter. A Jazz spokesperson responded that very extensive due diligence and background checks were carried out before the appointment.
