The Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) has warned the public about impersonators pretending to be armed forces’ officials & seeking personal information. Major General Asif Ghafoor, Director General ISPR, sent out the public awareness message, warning people about the scam.

The statement added that the Army received a lot of complaints about people impersonating as army officials and trying to get sensitive information. This information includes CNIC numbers, bank account details etc. which is demanded by scammers for census verification.

Public Awareness Message

The public awareness message reads:

There are reports of fake telephone calls being made to the general public by individuals impersonating as Pakistan armed forces officials. Please be aware that no such calls are being made from Pakistan Armed Forces.

The public is requested not to respond to such calls and immediately report the same on our emergency helpline UAN 1135 and 1125, the message added.

Previously in January, ISPR warned the public about the same issue and clarified that the army isn’t making any such calls. The media wing of the army also issued a warning about fake emails claiming to be from the army and seeking personal information. The message added to block and report any emails received from the address invite@ispr.press.
