Following in the footstep of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, the Islamabad Police has issued a driving license to a transgender person.

On Monday, Alia Layla became the first certified transwoman driver in the capital territory Islamabad after passing all practical driving tests.

As per a statement from the capital police, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Amir Zulfiqar met Layla and assured that the Islamabad police would consider and address the issues of transgender people.

In March this year, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) led KP government created history by issuing driving licenses to 15 transgender persons.
