The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing has detained a male resident of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Kohistan district for allegedly blackmailing and harassing a woman.

As per the details, a woman of Mansehra district filed a complaint against the man. She maintained that a person has been threatening her through messages to share her pictures on social media if she refuses to meet him.

“We received the complaint and verified the complaint from different angles,” says a senior FIA official. The officer told that FIA formed teams to trace the accused. Ultimately, he was arrested and booked under the law.

He also told that earlier, people did not come forward and would cave in against the threatening messages. But now, the awareness among the general public and people’s confidence in the law enforcement agencies has enabled the victims to lodge their complaints.

The FIA’s cyber crime wing has arrested and registered several individuals over different online crimes. In February, the agency had arrested and booked a man for uploading a woman’s photos on social media.

In November, the agency arrested a resident of Haripur district for alleged involvement in child pornography.
