Emirates has announced to temporarily halt flight operations from Pakistan with immediate effect.
The decision has come days after an Emirates flight, on 20 June, from Dubai to Hong Kong reported 26 positive Coronavirus cases after arrival, the highest number of confirmed Coronavirus cases on a single flight.
All 26 Coronavirus positive passengers landing in Hong Kong had traveled from Pakistan to Dubai initially.
It is worth remembering that Emirates had resumed flight operations from Pakistan on 8 June.
An Emirates spokesperson has said:
We regret to temporarily suspend passenger services from Pakistan, from 24 June 04:00 Pakistan, until early next week.
Emirates’ service team will contact the affected customers, the spokesperson added.
We remain in contact with the relevant authorities on requirements to resume services for travelers and look forward to operating our flights again soon. Affected customers will be contacted directly by our service team. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Meanwhile, Emirates’ repatriation flight operations into Pakistan will remain unaffected and will continue according to the previously announced schedule.
Cargo services of Emirates between Pakistan, UAE, and worldwide will operate in the normal routine as well.
