EFU General Insurance Ltd. (EFU) has selected the Sun Oracle Database Machine to modernize its IT systems and serve as the underlying data and storage infrastructure for its new insurance application.

Sidat Hyder Morshed Associates (Private) Limited, a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, was selected as the business partner for this deployment.

EFU is replacing its legacy system to respond better and faster to business challenges. With Oracle, EFU will be able to open more sales channels via the Web and facilitate integration with other companies. As a result, more quality services can be offered to its customers via the Web because of the more agile and reliable IT infrastructure.

“We needed a reliable, flexible, scalable and secure infrastructure as the foundation to our new application to deliver up-to-date business information to our branches country-wide,” said Hasanali Abdullah (Joint-Managing Director) of EFU General Insurance.

“The Sun Oracle Database Machine delivers a compelling, pre-configured solution for customers expecting to quickly adopt applications based on Oracle technologies,” said Farhan Ibrahim, Country Director, Technology Business, Pakistan and Afghanistan, Oracle. “As one of the largest private non-life insurance company in Pakistan, EFU General Insurance Limited will now be able to further improve its service levels and expand service offerings to policy holders while empowering EFU’s management team with up-to-date business information, to respond promptly to changes and make profitable business decisions.”

EFU’s new core insurance application will be centrally deployed on Oracle WebLogic Suite 11g and accessed by EFU’s country-wide branch network. This helps EFU to reduce the cost associated with diagnostics, configuration, and deployment on EFU’s production servers.

Oracle Database 11g Release 2 and Oracle Real Application Clusters on the Sun Oracle Database Machine offers unmatched system performance, optimal utilization of IT resources and a scalable architecture that can grow with EFU.

Oracle Enterprise Manager with Diagnostic, Provisioning and Tuning Packs, allows EFU to automate its application tuning process, simplify the task of managing large sets of databases, and manage critical data center operations cost effectively.

Oracle Data Integrator eases the migration of EFU’s legacy data to its new system and enables EFU to build its data warehouse on Oracle Exadata V2.

In addition, a centralized IT environment will offer the EFU management a real time view of key information, enabling EFU to analyze business trends and make timely decisions.
