Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qadir, Secretary IT and TelecomDr. Zafar Iqbal Qadir has been appointed as secretary IT and Telecom at Ministry of Information Technology. His appointment was announced yesterday evening after which he took the charge to replace Mr. Amir Tariq Zaman Khan, who served as acting secretary IT and Telecom for around five months.

Dr. Qadir, with this appointment, has been promoted from grade 21 to grade 22. He has been given the charge at a time when Ministry and other telecom authorities are under severe pressure after two failed attempts of auctioning 3G licenses.

Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qadir was serving as Chairman of the NDMA (National Disaster management Authority) before his current appointment. Dr. Qadir is said to have experience of project management, public administration, revenue administration and community development.

Dr. Qadir has previously served as the commissioner of Naseerabad, director general and additional secretary in the president`s secretariat, joint secretary in the commerce ministry, Pakistan`s economic minister and deputy permanent representative at the World Trade Organisation, secretary of agriculture and cooperatives and additional secretary of health in Balochistan.

Dr. Zafar Qadir has a PhD degree in Development Studies; and holds three Masters Degrees: Business Administration, Economics and Politics.
