Acer Announces New Convertible And Gaming Laptop

Things have started to warm up in the PC industry now that Computex is just around the corner.
In anticipation of the event, Acer has announced two new machines, a 2-in-1 convertible and a budget gaming laptop.
Acer Spin 1
The Spin 1 is a machine aimed at audiences who want something for entertainment while also being useful for productivity from time to time.
It has an 11.8-inch display on the front with 1080p (1080 x 1920) resolution. The display can also be folded all the way to the back of keyboard to get to a “tent” or tablet mode. Clad in a metal frame, the Spin 1 weighs around 2.8 pounds and is 0.55 inch thick.
Under the hood, you can get either a Pentium or Celeron processor, alongside 4 GB RAM and up to 128 GB of eMMC storage.
For connectivity, you get 1 USB 3.1, 1 USB 2.0, HDMI, microSD and headphone jack. Wireless options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0. Battery life is said to last up to 8 hours.
Acer Spin 1 starts from $329.
Acer Nitro 5
The Nitro 5 comes in a slightly more conventional shell, and is targeted at budget gamers on the move.
The display here is a 15.6-inch IPS HD panel. It is powered by processing options from both Intel and AMD, which is good news for AMD fans.
The former can be paired with up to a GTX 1050 Ti processor with Core i5 or i7, while the the latter comes with a lower-end Radeon RX550 with A10, A12 or A-series FX APUs.
The Nitro 5 is accompanied with up to 32 GB of 2400MHz DDR4 RAM, 512 GB SSD, and an additional HDD of up to 2 TB.
The laptop comes with 1 USB-C, 1 USB 3.0, 2 USB 2.0, and 1 HDMI 2.0 port for connections. The design features red accent for a sharper look. Acer traditionally goes for the red in gaming laptops (as seen in the predator series).
Pricing details for the Nitro 5 will be revealed at Computex, although you can expect it to fall in the $700 – $800 price range.
