The city of Nawabshah whose new name is after the late leader of the ruling party in the province of Sindh, Shaheed Benazir Abad, is the headquarters of Shaheed Benazir Abad district. Name of the city and district of Nawabshah was changed when all the party representatives of PPP demanded to change the district name in order to honor the great leader of PPP Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. The city is located at the center of the Sindh province about 260kms north of the port city of Karachi and about 120kms west of Hyderabad, and is sitting on the eastern bank of Indus River; this city was developed by the British in 1913 when Syed Nawabshah of the Syed family in the area donated 200 acres of land for Nawabshah Railway Station. Due to its location on Indus River, it is very rich in agriculture with the production of cotton, sugarcane, and mangos that are very famous throughout the country.

Nawabshah is the home of Nawabshah domestic airport which is used for commercial flights only, and some VIP purposes. Nawabshah is a junction on the Main Rail Line 1 that connects Karachi to Peshawar, and Metre Guage Line, Nawabshah to Mirpur Khas. There are many highways that connect Nawabshah to almost every Major city in Sindh province. Nawabshah is the home of Pakistan’s Former President Asif Ali Zardari and has many notable educational institutions for boys and girls.
