Over the weekend, people will face difficulties accessing resources or loading pages or even network connection failure because of the routine maintenance of main domain servers and related infrastructure networks. So, the networks will be down for a while. The internet consumers will encounter internet crash with error messages about a “server failure”. Although only 1% of the world’s internet will experience the internet crash, but still, that’s approximately 36 million people said ICANN. There is no mention of specific countries that would be the affected 1%.

The Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will go through maintenance work. The cryptographic key that protects the Domain Name System (DNS) will be modified, states a Reuters report published in Russia Today.

The maintenance is labelled a necessity as the increasing incidents of cyber crimes. The shut down is necessary to ensuring a secure, stable and resilient DNS. An outdated ISP will result in inconvenience  accessing the global network.

 “To further clarify, some internet users might be affected if their network operators or Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have not prepared for this change. However, this impact can be avoided by enabling the appropriate system security extensions.
