Khairpur is one of the cities that lies in the district of Khairpur. According to the map it is located at the border of Baluchistan province and has its being there since 1931. This city in 1931 was actually merged together by creating into a single city. The two merged cities were Kotri and Mahal Kohistan. Later Jamshoro one of the cities nearby was also located in Khairpur district. Jamshoro was separated from Karachi district to make it more prominent. Total number of tehsils that lies in this district are 5 and the code of this area is 025. This city has people mostly speaking Sindhi language. There second language comes as Urdu and later as Memoni language. According to the census held in 1998 there were 98% of the people who were speaking Sindhi language.

The district covers Johi, Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Khairpur itself.
