Political Career of Akram Khan Durrani

At the start of his political career he ran for the seat of pronvincial assembly and was elected several times in KPK as a MPA , contesting the election from his hometown seat in Bannu. By much consultation between the mutahidda majlis -e – amal he was appointed to the position of Chief minister of KPK in 2002 and held the office till 2007.

In 2013 , he decided to contest the elections for the seat at National assembly . He emerged victorious from his hometown seat of Bannu NA -24. In the same elections , he also won the seat of MPA but had to give that up to attain the role of MNA.

The current president, Mamnoon Hussain appointed him to the position of Minister for housing and works .

There was also an assassination attempt on his life when his convoy was targeted in Bannu. He was removed from his position as a minster following the decision of panama papers case against Nawaz Sharif in July 2017. However, after the appointment of the prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi he was reinstated to his role in august 2017.
